The subject of this print is not immediately apparent. Bartsch identified it as God the Father showing the Virgin her destiny to be the mother of Christ. More recently Ciampolini describes it as the Immaculate in Glory. The composition is related based on a drawing now at the Uffizi (inv. no. 10851 F; 209 x 136 mm). An impression of a later state
