Studio d'Arts Décoratifs, 3e Série, Pl. 6, Dessins de Fantaisie

Sixth plate of the third series of pochoir pattern books, titled "Studio d'arts décoratifs", with Art Deco textile designs created by Nicolas Sorokine and published in Paris by Armand Guérinet, probably in the second half of the 1920s or the early 1930s. The series consists of a title page with index and 12 plates with designs numbered 1-12, each with numerous designs, bound with dark blue linen boards. The designs contain a variety of geometric motifs, birds and flowers, all typical of the Art Deco style, which was characterized by its eclecticism, drawing from a variety of sources that sought to combine old European design traditions with the modern style diffused by avant-garde art, while also reflecting the romantic fascination with early Egyptian and Meso-American "exotic" cultures promoted by archaeological discoveries of the times.

This plate consists of six "fantastic" designs with semi-abstract floral motifs. The first design is made up of semi-abstract round flowers colored with orange and red and leaves colored with shades of green over a cream background. The second design is made up of overlapping triangles colored with green, red and tan, semi-abstract blue and green leaves and clusters of small semi-abstract round flowers colored with red. The third design is made up of large bundles of stylized flowers colored with green, yellow, red and orange, stylized leaves colored with blue and red, and thin branches colored with green over a purple ground. The fourth design is made up of rows of semi-abstract flowers colored with light green, red and orange and stems and leaves colored with green, separated by horizontal zig-zagging lines rendered with shades of red over a green ground. The fifth design is made up of bundles of semi-abstract flowers colored with red and dark green and branches with leaves colored with shades of green, some of them over purple circles, over an orange ground. The final design is made up of vertical rows of rectangles and squares created with red, green and white "glitches" and some of them filled with red or white bundles of stylized flowers and leaves.
