Tenth plate of the third series of pochoir pattern books, titled "Studio d'arts décoratifs", with Art Deco textile designs created by Nicolas Sorokine and published in Paris by Armand Guérinet, probably in the second half of the 1920s or the early 1930s. The series consists of a title page with index and 12 plates with designs numbered 1-12, each with numerous designs, bound with dark blue linen boards. The designs contain a variety of geometric motifs, birds and flowers, all typical of the Art Deco style, which was characterized by its eclecticism, drawing from a variety of sources that sought to combine old European design traditions with the modern style diffused by avant-garde art, while also reflecting the romantic fascination with early Egyptian and Meso-American "exotic" cultures promoted by archaeological discoveries of the times.
This plate consists of six designs on black grounds. The first is made up of overlapping diagonal stripes with triangles colored with shades of gray and blue and parallellograms colored with black, and scales and semi-abstract branches colored with black, gray and orange over a purple ground. The second design is made up of stylized flowers and branches with leaves and flower buds colored with green, orange and shades of purple over a black ground. The third design is made up of stylized flowers and leaves colored with red, orange, green and shades of purple over a black ground. The fourth design is made up of stylized flowers colored with red, black, gray and white, stylized leaves colored with white, green, gray and black, and scrolling branches with leaves colored with black and gray over a green ground. The fifth design is made up of branches with semi-abstract flowers colored with purple and red and sunbursts colored with yellow over a black ground. The final design is made up of scrolling branches with semi-abstract flowers, flower buds and leaves, colored with orange, green, purple and yellow over a metallic black ground.
