In October 1844, Louis Philippe, King of the French, crossed the Channel to make a week-long visit to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert at Windsor Castle. This lithograph represents his departure on October 7 from the French coastal town of Le Tréport and belongs to a bound set of twenty-five lithographs published in 1846 to commemorate the journey.
