Réception du Roi Sous Le Péristyle (Reception of the King Under the Peristyle at Windsor Castle)
Not on view
In October 1844, Louis Philippe, King of the French, crossed the Channel to make a week-long visit to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert at Windsor Castle. This scene shows Queen Victoria welcoming Louis to Windsor Castle on October 8th, accompanied by Prince Albert and members of the court, and belongs to a bound set of twenty-five lithographs published in 1846 to commemorate the journey. Related text, pp. 17-18 describes the subject and concludes with a large relief plan that shows the castle in 1672.
