A satire showing an elderly father whose gouty leg is propped on a stool sitting next to his two daughters at table, as a servant presents two fish on a platter. He had been asked by the women to find parasols but instead bought them a pair of soles. The father says: "I am thinking Children what a vast Expense you are to me--always wanting something or other but however according to your desire, I have sent John for the two parasols-and I very much wonder he is not returned." One daughter says "Here he is Pappa". The other "Why John, what have you brought?" John replies: "Why please your Homors, I tried half over the town, and could not get even one pair of Soles for the life of me, at last I thought of Peter Perriwinkle the Fishmonger, at the two mile stone, and says he'll warrant them sweet and good."
