The famous female poet is portrayed as a sculpted bust, her shoulders loosely clad in a low gown and her hair knotted with loose curls framing the face. The print was used to illustrate an edition of the subject's "Poems by the deservedly Admired Mrs. Katherine Phillips The Matchess Orinda" (London 1667).
