A series of humorous Christmas scenes based on an account by the artist's grandfather. Here we see Mr. Carylon receiving an invitation to spend Christmas at Marley Hall, setting out by coach to and delayed by snow. After being met by a servant from Marley Hall, he is held up by two highwaymen.
