Seeking royal patronage, the Mozart family traveled to Versailles in 1763–64, staying for two weeks. Charming the court, the young Wolfgang Amadeus played the organ in the Royal Chapel on New Year's Day, had an audience with the royal family, attended their public dinner, or Grand Couvert, and received many presents.
