History of Anatolian Folk Music, 2000–2001

Peter Hristoff Turkish-Bulgarian

Not on view

This piece’s oblong shape is suggestive of a textile, one of the recurring sources Hristoff uses as inspiration in his work. Here, the white pattern overlaying the colored background is based on Turkish headscarves (yazmas). Strings of flowers and beads (oya) add additional decoration at the bottom. The work is part of a larger series that celebrates the history of Anatolia and Turkish folklore.
