Side Chair
This chair and its mate, 40.159.3, are attributed to the workshop of Duncan Phyfe on the basis of their appearance and history. The chairs originally belonged to Robert Gill and were used in his house in Fishkill-on-Hudson, New York, after 1833. According to family tradition Gill purchased the chairs from Duncan Phyfe.
