Cover of the Saturday Evening Post, November 22, 1941
On loan to The Met
This work of art is currently on loan to the museum. For this Thanksgiving-themed cover of the Saturday Evening Post, Miller, a freelance commercial photographer in Los Angeles, began by photographing his two-year-old daughter seated at a table, her hands folded in prayer. Each additional element, including the turkey, cranberry sauce, milk, and candlestick, was photographed separately and transferred to the original image to produce a flawless photographic equivalent of a Norman Rockwell holiday scene.
