Terracotta statuette of a youth
Statuettes of this type were popular offerings at the sanctuary of the Kabeiroi, a mystery cult at Thebes in Boeotia. They represent adolescent youths and may have been related to initiation rituals.

Fabric: tan (10 YR 7/4, darker), fairly coarse, with small gray, white, and sparkling inclusions, voids.
Slip, paint: white slip, red paint on flesh and hair.
Method of manufacture: moldmade, hollow, probably all in one mold.
Back, venting: back handmade, not detailed; long rectangular vent from waist to calves. - Dimensions: H. 7 5/8 in. (19.4 cm)
