[Album of 96 Portraits of Artists in Their Studios in 2 Volumes]

1880s–90s
Not on view
Taken from an album documenting the studios of eminent-and not so eminent-French artists, this image offers a view of the encrusted, cluttered environment in which academic artists of the nineteenth century worked. Their studios were points of departure for many psychological destinations, self-adulation included.
