English Rustic Pictures
The untimely deaths of the Idyllists Walker and Pinwell prompted this posthumous re-issue of illustrations from two publications: "A Round of Days" (1866) and "Wayside Posies" (1867). Published in a variety of editions this example was printed on fine smooth India paper and was given to one of the Idyllists's greatest admirers Hubert von Herkomer in 1883. He wrote and lectured on them widely, and collected their work in a range of media. This re-issue capitalized on their enduring popularity, and includes some of their most well-known compositions including "Love in Death" by Walker and "Shadow and Substance" by Pinwell. The volume contains a half-title, title page, preface, list of illustrations and thirty-two mounted plates, bound in gold-stamped vellum boards.
