Beaker
Jurian Blanck Jr. American
Following Dutch custom, tall beakers made for domestic use in colonial New York were often donated by their owners to local churches. This beaker is engraved with a Dutch inscription that translates as “Given as a token of devotion and loyalty to the Church in Kingston 1683.” A second beaker, made around 1711, is similarly inscribed. Each is engraved with representations of Hope, Faith, and Charity.
