A Magnificent Pavilion by the Lagoon (recto); The Grand Canal, with the Rialto Bridge from the South (verso)
Canaletto (Giovanni Antonio Canal) Italian
Not on view
This sketchy rendering of the famed Rialto Bridge in Venice is thought to relate to Canaletto’s small painting on copper in the collection of the Earls of Leicester at Holkham Hall. The slight misalignment of the horizontal and the open pen work suggest that the drawing was penned on site.
