Landscape with a Distant Town (recto); Study of Trees around a Pond (verso)
According to a faint inscription on the reverse, this drawing was made in and around the small village of Montmorency, north of Paris. A number of painters favored the cool forests and valleys near the château de Montmorency in the 1850s and 1860s.
