This work of art was on loan to the museum and has since been returned to its lender.On the left, James successfully disputes with a sorcerer’s apprentice in Jerusalem. The sorcerer’s own demons bind their master and bring him before James, who converts him from his evil ways. Even as the high priest leads him to his death, James inspires the conversion of a follower. Lastly, James, the first apostle to be martyred, is beheaded.
