Everyone Stands under His Own Dome of Heaven reimagines the figure of the artist in a vast, snow-dusted field, isolated by a transparent hemisphere. The figure’s Nazi salute is visible but shielded by the dome. Kiefer has explained that the pose acts like a "lightning rod" for our attention while the dome limits its power; this combination demonstrates the artist’s conviction that there is no single teleological system of belief, such as Christianity or Marxism, appropriate for all human beings. In discussing this work, he stated, "Each man has his own dome, his own perceptions, his own theories. There is no one god for all. Each man has his own, and sometimes [it] overlaps with or intersects another’s."
