Coffin Lid of Tawaher

Late Period, Saite

On View Gallery

The Chantress of Amen-Re, Tawaher, was a daughter of a priest and official named Diskhonsu and his wife Ruru. On each side of this, the lid of what would have been her outer coffin, is a figure of Tawaher before a pile of offerings, and an image of the sun god in one of the barques in which he traveled through the day or night sky. The inscriptions are funerary spells meant to help Tawaher achieve eternal life as a blessed spirit.
