Paddle doll

Middle Kingdom–Early New Kingdom

Not on view

This “paddle doll” was found in the debris from a chamber in Tomb MMA 110; three additional paddle dolls were found in other parts of the same tomb. Like most of these figures, this example has a keyhole shaped body and two rudimentary arms. A geometrically pattered garment is painted on the torso above a large pubic triangle. The head likely once had hair made of mud beads attached to it, a few of which were found loose in the fill with the doll.
