Pitcher
This pitcher achieved its shape by folding and pinching the clay pot after it was spun on the potter's wheel. It is covered in an olive green glaze that would have been applied by dipping. Both techniques were also used by folk potters, and were adapted by George E. Ohr to create artistic objects by hand quickly. For other examples of Biloxi Art Pottery see: 1976.97, 1981.432.1, and 1982.224.
