This object is not part of The Met collection. It was in the Museum for a special exhibition and has been returned to the lender.

The lower part of the statue to which this head belonged is inscribed with the king’s name. In 1932, the body was found in the sanctuary of Heqaib on Elephantine Island by the Egyptian Antiquities Service. In 1988, Biri Fay recognized that the head and body belong together.
