According to a list compiled by Bertha H. Wiles in 1952, pages 2, 32, 33, 37, 38 and 39 of this portfolio are proofs for a work actually published: Inig's Disegni Originali, 14 plates published in Bologna before 1788. (Weigel 59.63). The notice printed on the verso of the Frontispiece (41.97.286(2)) refers to proofs of about 70 prints by Rosaspina after Parmigianino of drawings in the collection of Antonio Armano in Venice. This work was never published (Copertini, op. cit, II.63). According to Wiles, the drawings reproduced in the proofs of this portfolio most likely belong to this unpublished work. Seventeen of them feature the inscription: "Dal Gabinetto del Sig. Giovanni Antonio Armano Veneto." The others either are proofs, or the inscription has been cut away.
