Stretch Teapot
Eric Serritella American

Serritella’s ceramics are virtuosic displays of technical skill, trompe l’oeil, and realist aesthetics. His achievement is especially notable because ceramic is notoriously difficult to control given the fine precision that realism demands. The trompe l’oeil effect is so convincing that even after handling the piece, it is difficult to discern whether the work is an actual tree branch or a finely executed man-made piece of ceramic. Conceptually witty, the artist rethinks the conventions of a teapot’s form and function in favor of this startling and surreal functional sculpture.
