This work of art was on loan to the museum and has since been returned to its lender.Hardstone carving, one of the oldest arts in China, was further enriched by the introduction of new types of gems from lands across the oceans. These two necklaces likely originated in India, an appraisal based not only on their gemological composition but also on their faceted shapes.
