This work of art was on loan to the museum and has since been returned to its lender.This silver medal, made in Brussels for the Habsburg King Philip II of Spain, features a Roman temple— the same one that appears in a scene on the Augustus dish. On the dish, the temple signifies Augustus’s ability to bring peace to the empire. Here, it makes the same point about the modern Habsburg king.
