Snuffbox with Views of the Royal Residences
Returned to lender
This work of art was on loan to the museum and has since been returned to its lender.Six different views of Versailles decorate this precious snuffbox. The front of the palace is illustrated on the lid, the garden facade embellishes the underside, and smaller miniatures placed at the corners show different groves in the gardens. The four sides and interior of the lid feature views of the now-demolished châteaux of Marly, Bellevue, Saint-Hubert, La Muette, and Choisy.
