In 1885, Schastey moved his showroom uptown from its original location near Union Square to follow the migration of his clients toward more fashionable midtown addresses. This photograph shows the facade of the Schastey & Co. showroom, located at 1681–1683 Broadway, near West Fifty-Third Street. As noted on the signage, Schastey’s firm provided a complete range of decorating services and goods, in addition to the traditional furniture offerings of a cabinetmaker.
