Calligraphic exercize in Italian, presented in a double rectangular frame broken up by the initial letter 'S' in the upper left corner. The text begins with the words ' Si come debbe il buon Principe difendere (...)' and runs for five lines. The ascenders and descenders are highlighted in gold. Part of an album with 26 examples of calligraphy and micrography, thought to have been produced in France or possibly Antwerp at the beginning of the seventeenth century.
