Designs for a brooch, headbands and bracelets with branches and leaves
Drawing with designs for a brooch, headbands and bracelets, part of an album of drawings in pen and ink of designs for jewelry in the style of the French School of the 19th century, designed for the French jewelry house Mellerio-Borgnis. The first design, for a brooch, consists of a horizontal piece of gold with three green ribbons, and a diagonal C-curve with square-cut diamonds, the center from which hangs an inverted pear-shaped motif with a green trefoil and flanked below by three semi-abstract silver leaves. The second design, possibly for a headband, necklace or bracelet, is made up of interlacing circles of gold and a garland of stylized green leaves and bundles of small, round pearls. The third design, also possibly for a headband, necklace or bracelet, is made up of two thin strips of gold, held together by two pairs of S-curved motifs, in-between which lies a frame with gold outlines and blue interior, holding scrolling, elongated leaves and a branch with scrolling branches with oval and round pearls of different sizes. The fourth design, for a bracelet, is made up of a golden bangle and a vertical oval frame in the center, decorated with scrolling, semi-abstract, blue leaves and a garland of stylized silver leaves and small, round pearls of varying diameters. The fifth design, possibly for a headband or bracelet, is made up of two thin strips of gold, and an escutcheon in the middle, containing a large oval pearl flanked by groups of three small, round pearls on each side; the escutcheon is flanked above by a green trefoil containing three small, round pearls inside, and by thin, scrolling branches with round pearls to the sides, which lie above gold scrolls that emerge from the upper center of the escutcheon and interlace around the body of the bracelet.
