Ponte Vecchio, Florence

Fratelli Alinari

Not on view

This lively rooftop panorama of Florence traces the winding path of the so-called Vasari corridor, which links the Uffizi Gallery to the Palazzo Pitti by traversing the Arno River at the Ponte Vecchio. During the nineteenth century, the Fratelli Alinari firm became known for the clarity and detail of its compositions, characteristics already in evidence in this early print.
