Floréal, Pl. 10
Tenth plate of album with 20 pochoir pattern plates, titled "Floréal: Dessins & Coloris Nouveaux" (Floreal: New Designs and Colors), created by Emile-Allain Séguy and published in Paris by A. Calavas in 1925 or earlier. The plate contains five ornamental designs, possibly for textiles or wallpapers, with lively, semi-abstract motifs inspired from nature. The first design consists of a tree motif made up of a thin, blue trunk and scrolling branches with small, semi-abstract leaves, colored with white and shades of purple, inside a semi-abstract spade motif, colored with brown and outlined with two white lines, on a dark green ground with semi-abstract paisley leaves colored with green, blue, and white. The second design is made up of scrolling branches with semi-abstract leaves, colored with shades of brown and outlined with pastel green, with offsetting thorns, colored with red, on a green ground. The third design is made up of a horizontal stripe with leaves, colored with shades of green, flanked by alternating paisley shapes, rendered with alternating purple and orange lozenges, outlined with a lighter shade of orange, between two thinner horizontal blue stripes. The third design is made up of bundles of semi-abstract rosettes with white petals, outlined with brown, inside light brown roundels, and thin, vertical, green branches with leaves, outlined with blue and colored with purple, on a bluish-green ground. The fifth design is made up of alternating strips of lozenges, colored with yellow and outlined with brown, containing vases made up of brown bricks, outlined with green, flanked by bundles of dark green leaves and round, purple fruits, on a white ground with thin, blue, vertical stripes.
