This book, compiled by Jiao Hong and illuminated by Ding Yunpeng, illustrates sixty exemplary deeds carried out by historical political figures for the moral instruction of the then heir apparent, Zhu Changluo (r. 1620). The image displayed here tells the story of “Removing Dried Fish from among the Delicacies,” in which the future King Wu (d. 1043 B.C.) of the Zhou dynasty is informed by the bearded tutor Taigong Wang that his craving for dried fish was inappropriate for someone of his status.
