The old tree at the center of this print exudes vibrant vitality in its sinewy trunk and dense foliage. The vantage point from below endows it with a majestic aura, while the wild vines animate the view with dynamic lines. This print, thoroughly different from the artist’s early works, which were loaded with sociopolitical messages, demonstrates how his subject and style had evolved over the course of a long and prolific career.
