Avalokiteshvara (Guanyin in Chinese), the Bodhisattva of Compassion, leads believers to the Western Pure Land of Buddha Amitabha. Here, colors were added to the print by hand. The devotee of this work furnished it with dark blue woodblock-printed mounts at top and bottom to simulate the look of a hanging scroll.
