Treasure Series 1: Chinese Goddess
Returned to lender
This work of art was on loan to the museum and has since been returned to its lender.Created in the post-Mao period, this woodblock print exemplifies Chinese artists’ re-engagement with China’s historical art. Framing a sensual classical torso in the doorway of a Buddhist cave temple injects these traditional art forms with a modernist sensibility.
