Astrological Drawing Depicting the Constellation Andromeda
This astrological drawing of the constellation Andromeda shows her standing with feet aligned toward the right, her motion balanced with one foot placed before the other. Her hands are splayed out in a manner that reflects restrained openness and her arms are suspended in mid-air with palms facing upward. The sinuous lines and the sensitive treatment of the facial features and garment are characteristic of the sixteenth-century Safavid style.
