Round dish with cattail border
Emile Gambut French
Not on view
Based in his family workshop in Beaune, Emile Gambut created works inspired by the rediscovery of the works of sixteenth-century potter Bernard Palissy (1510-ca. 1589). The frog, lizard, and lobster at the center of this plate recall the creatures found at the center of the Renaissance potter’s work. Gambut has added inventive details through the addition of the textured green moss and ornate decorative border.
