Archaistic incense burner of the Prince Lu (No. 40)

This work of art is currently on loan to the museum.This finely cast incense burner was from a group of archaistic bronzes commissioned by Ming prince Zhu Changfang. These princely bronzes feature a unique style of mark, which includes not only the prince’s name seal in the center but also the item’s production date and inventory number.
