Vase with dragons

14th century

This work of art is currently on loan to the museum.
Aside from creating archaic designs, fourteenth-century artists explored a new array of pictorial motifs, such as the powerful dragons on this vase. These creatures, a popular motif found on ceramics of the time, have been translated here from a two-dimensional design into high-relief imagery on bronze.
