Three Horse Heads after Leonardo da Vinci

After Leonardo da Vinci Italian
ca. 1580–1620
Not on view
This engraving is a copy in reverse from a print made by Giovanni Antonio da Brescia after Leonardo da Vinci in the first decade of the sixteenth century. The print shows three horse heads, of which two modelled in the round and one shown in lines only and placed within a square grid. The print is marked with the number "20" and was likely part of a late-sixteenth-century drawing book. One of the three heads is traced in red chalk on the verso of the print.
