Le koriste
Le koriste depicts a kora player, a figure deeply connected to Senegalese cultural heritage. Unlike many tapestries created at the Manufactures Sénégalaises des arts décoratifs de Thiès which featured jazz musicians, Goudiaby grounds his subject in local traditions, emphasizing the importance of the kora in contemporary Senegalese identity. The representation of a baobab tree, a national symbol of Senegal, further anchors the artwork in its local context.
