Manneken-Pis Mennon
This satirical print reimagines Brussels’ famous mascot, Manneken-Pis, as a figure constructed entirely from musical instruments of the mid nineteenth century. From the Turkish crescent that crowns his head to the lyre at his feet, the figure is an intricate assemblage of drums, strings, and winds that represent an accurate and lively survey of the contemporary instrumentarium. Perched atop a double music stand, this satirical depiction of Manneken-Pis releases a stream of musical notes onto the crowd below.
