New Look, Same Great Met

New metmuseum.org homepage

«You may notice that some things look and feel a bit different on our website today; a fresh design and simplified navigation—across all devices—are just part of what you will now experience with The Met online. All your favorite things are still here, but they should be easier to access and enjoy. Program information will be simpler to find too, in new categories and groupings. A full outline of these changes can be found on our Digital Underground blog

But it's not just our website that has a new look. You will benefit from a greater clarity and consistency in all of our materials and communications across each of our three locations: The Met Fifth Avenue, The Met Breuer, and The Met Cloisters. We are pleased to introduce this unified design and identity to guide the millions of people who engage with us each year—from devoted visitors to those new to the Museum—as part of our efforts to expand The Met's reach and relevance. We are one museum, with three locations, open to everyone.

Throughout The Met's 146-year history, we have always evolved to meet the needs of our audience. Simply numbering the galleries five years ago provided a major service to the public. As I look at the sophisticated design that is inflecting all of The Met's resources today, I am proud that we are representing the Museum with the visual elegance it deserves—uniting both classical and modern forms and highlighting the connections that make The Met so unique.

Of course, successful design is both form and function; I hope you'll find that our new look satisfies both.

Welcome to the same great Met.
