Als diese Vase hergestellt wurde, war die königlich französische Manufaktur in Sèvres die einflussreichste und prestigereichste Porzellanfabrik in ganz Europa. Innovation in Form und Verzierung ist in dem komplexen, durchstochenen Design ihres Deckels und ihrer Schulter sichtbar sowie in der prächtigen türkisen Grundfarbe und in der detailliert gemalten und vergoldeten Verzierung. Ihre erste Besitzerin war Madame de Pompadour, eine Mätresse Ludwigs XV.
