The obverse depicts Pope Sixtus IV (Francesco d’Albescola
della Rovere, 1414 – 1484; r. 1471 – 84), and the reverse
shows the seated Sixtus IV being crowned by Saint
Francis and Saint Anthony of Padua. The medal was
made upon the occasion of the election of the pope in
1471.
