Landscapes
Almost nothing is recorded of the painter Tao Hong, who lived and worked in Nanjing in the waning years of the Ming dynasty. These five album leaves, among his only surviving works, reveal an artist of great sensitivity. They demonstrate his ability to evoke a rich sense of atmosphere and depth through subtly layered tones of ink and light color.
