Design for a mosaic wall panel
Louis C. Tiffany American
Tiffany Studios
Not on view
Tiffany Studios created fashionable Favrile-glass mosaic storefront signs for retail establishments such as W.W. Wattles and Sons, a Pittsburgh jeweler and importer established in 1859. Like Tiffany and Company itself, William W. Wattles's firm sold American and European fancy goods such as clocks, watches, bronzes, porcelain, and silver in addition to jewelry. This may have been one of two or more designs proposed for the store, as indicated by the encircled capital B inscribed on the drawing.
